'Chuck' (3.8) "Chuck Versus The Fake Name" – Review

It's a heartache of an episode this week, as Chuck finds himself conflicted with who he really cares for, while he's forced to go undercover as an assassin alias in order to get close to The Ring. It was a very memorable episode for many reasons: comedy, twists, and the ever-evolving character that is Chuck.
The Chuck gang manages to capture an assassin, who is working for The Ring. Casey wants to go in as the assassin, but Shaw insists that Chuck does since that's what he's been training for and he needs to do this on his own. As Chuck delves into this "character" and inserts himself into the assassin's life, will he find out that his life of recent has become its own alias of sorts?
Awww
I really enjoyed the overall main theme of the episode and the meanings behind it. Ever since Chuck went into training to be a spy, he's slowly become less and less of the person we fell in love with in the beginning. He's no longer a bumbling goof who gets lucky, but rather he's winning now because he's kicking ass as a spy. I really dug the hidden meanings in the writing this episode, as Chuck taking on an alias was a direct nod at the fact that he's changing and becoming someone unlike himself. Casey thinks it's great news, but Sarah doesn't and is mourning the loss of the guy she first fell for.
The only thing I do not like about this season so far is the fact that the writers are seemingly pushing Chuck and Sarah farther apart than ever before, which personally sucks. I loved Chuck temporarily being with Hannah, but damn…he's meant for Sarah! Chuck realizes his continued feelings for Sarah after hearing Sarah reveal her real name – Sam – to Shaw and talking about how much Chuck has changed and even kissing Shaw. Just as Chuck is realizing he still cares, Sarah is apparently coming to the realization that she doesn't anymore, and so now she's falling for Shaw. What. The. Hell?
Sarah and Shaw are both spies. Sarah and Shaw have both lost someone to the spy game. Sarah and Shaw are both good-looking people. Other than those three things though, how in the hell has Sarah fallen so quickly and hard for Shaw? She works with Chuck for this long and she tells Shaw her real name after…what…two or three weeks? Perhaps it's because of the initial short season order the show was given, but the relationship feels way too forced. Hopefully Shaw gets killed soon, but then that would probably just drive her farther away from Chuck. Go figure.
Despite my annoyance and anger, it really was a fun and excellent episode of Chuck…I just wish those two crazy lovebirds would hurry and get together.
