'Afro Samurai' (Xbox 360/PS3) – Review

Is there anything cooler than an afro sporting samurai with vengeance on his mind? It's a purely rhetorical question, as the answer will always be an unequivocal no. Afro Samurai for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is the first game based on the hit anime/manga property of the same name, which follows the adventures of Afro Samurai as he tries to become the wearer of the Number One headband. It's a game that fans of the franchise will dig for all the same reasons they enjoy the anime, and there's even enough stuff there to please the non-hardcore fans as well.

Samuel L. Jackson Talks 'Afro Samurai'

Samuel L. Jackson - who plays the titular character of Afro Samurai as well as his traveling buddy Ninja Ninja - talked with Metromix about the series and how he got involved and how he sees the show progressing from here. The questions and answers are pretty short, but he does reveal some things such as how he discovered anime.

"I’m not really sure. I’ve been trolling the comic book world forever. And through doing that, I got turned on to things like “Ninja Scroll.” Also, when I was in Japan, they gave me a big box of the stuff. And I sat and watched a bunch of it, and knew what was going on even though it was all in Japanese. They hadn’t put any subtitles on it."

'Afro Samurai' Game Delayed Till January

Afro Samurai was set to be released this fall...or so many assumed after its recent convention showings. Fans of the series, however, will have to wait until January to not only see the new season, but play the game too. The official release date for the game is set for January 27, 2008. Oh boy, the day before my birthday. Happy birthday to me!
