Win A Million Dollars Playing 'MLB 2K10'

I don't this stunt has done enough to make me want to buy the game, but I'm definitely considering renting MLB 2K10. In order to promote their new pitching mechanics, 2K Sports has put up a million dollars to the first person who can pitch a perfect game. I could certainly use some money.

"Fans will be able to participate in the $1,000,000 Major League Baseball 2K10 contest beginning on March 2, 2010 at 12:01 AM PST, and ending on May 1, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT. 'Madden' Curse Strikes Again!

I was pumped yesterday for the football season to start again, but I felt deflated and already wanted this season over after seeing the Carolina Panthers just completely fall apart. Beyond feeling sorry for everyone on that team, I'm also feeling sorry for the Pittsburgh Steelers' Troy Polamalu, who is yet the latest in a line of people suffering from the Madden curse.

Troy Polamalu, who is one of the two stars on this year's cover of Madden, was injured in the first half of last night's season opener against the Tennessee Titans. After the Steelers blocked a field goal attempt, Polamalu bent down to recover the ball -- only to have a Titan land on his leg. Reports from early this morning say that it's a sprain to the MCL (medial collateral ligament) in his left knee, an injury that typically sidelines a player for 3-6 weeks.

When will football players learn to just say no to being on the cover of Madden?

'Deca Sports 2' (Wii) – Preview

Petanque? Petanque? What the hell is petanque? It was the first question I asked as a preview copy of Hudson's Deca Sports 2 made its way into my hands. The first Deca Sports wasn't a bad little assortment of sports themed minigames, but what do you do for the sequel when you've already covered most of the better-known sports out there? As it turns out, you find a few gems by way of sports you might never had heard of before or either never considered a sport to begin with.

'NBA 2K10' Gets Monstrous Collector's Edition

It's not uncommon anymore to see a game released as a limited collector's edition, featuring such things as an artbook, soundtrack, maybe a little figurine, but that's about it. 2K Sports is set to break the mold with their upcoming collector's edition for NBA 2K10, as you not only get a Shepard Fairey poster of Kobe Bryant and a figure of the athlete done by McFarlane's figure line-up that stands about six inches tall, but a replica basketball locker with combination lock that can safely store up to 20 videogames. Wow! The bundle is expected to retail for $99. You can see a picture of the whole package at the link provided.

Jimmy Fallon Versus Tiger Woods - Tonight

I think Jimmy Fallon is a funny guy, though I've not had many opportunities to watch his Late Night takeover from Conan. I think I'm going to have to tune-in to tonight's show, as Jimmy Fallon will be challenging Tiger Woods to the Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. I hope Fallon wins, but mostly I'm curious to see how good Tiger is at his own game.

    'Tony Hawk Ride' Revealed

Tony Hawk is the default name people think of when it comes to extreme sports, but more importantly extreme sports videogames. A new game in the Tony Hawk series was just revealed - Tony Hawk Ride - and though not much footage is shown, the big news is that it will come with a skateboard peripheral, which you can see at the end of the clip. Check it out.

Limited Edition 'Punch-Out!!' Boxing Glove Will Kill Your Wallet

I have an addiction to videogame collectibles. When it comes to collector's editions and extra stuff, I'm usually one to jump on it if the goods are any good. I've even done Amazon exclusives before, like the Fallout 3 PipBoy and the Expansion Pack goodies for Persona 4. I can't see myself EVER buying an official replica of Little Mac's left-handed boxing glove for a whopping $90. You don't even get the game! I'm sorry, but I have a hard time seeing anyone who buys this as a smart person.

    New 'Punch-Out!!' Trailer

I was happy another Punch-Out was coming out, but I didn't get really excited until seeing the following trailer. Old school music and pink jumpsuit training - old school for the win.

'We Ski & Snowboard' (Wii) – Review

As the temperature warms and the snow melts, people find themselves leaning towards more warm weather activities. If Namco Bandai has its way, however, you'll be wishing it were still the dead of winter, all so that you can shred the powder on one more ride down the mountain. Well now you don't need the cold and snow to partake in skiing and snowboarding, as We Ski & Snowboard has just been released for the Wii. So should you buy a ticket to ride up the slopes of this game's mountain?

'Skate 2' Will Feature Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory

Call it a guilty pleasure, but I love the MTV shows featuring Rob Dyrdek (and Nitro Circus is a blast too - check it out). I really like Dyrdek's new show - Fantasy Factory - and watching the guys skate in that awesome building made me actually want to pick Skate 2 up. Imagine my surprise then when I read this morning that Rob Dyrdek's factory is going to be released as DLC for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

It better have the foam pit!

    EA's 'Madden 09' Favre Plans

If you've been following sports lately - or even just watch the news in general - you probably know that Brett Favre decided to come out of retirement, the Packers traded him, and now he's with the Jets. Fine, but what is EA supposed to do with Brett Favre gracing their Madden 09 cover next week with Favre still in his Packers jersey and not part of a regular team? Thankfully EA isn't going to issue a second edition of the game to capitalize and make some money, instead simply giving players the ability to download a new cover, print it, and slip it into their case. Also, a quick roster update to add Favre as the starting QB for the Jets.
