PETA Loves 'Fable 2' - Hates Chickens In Return

PETA loves animals and acknowledging them in anyway they can, so they've gone the digital route and claimed Fable 2 to be their "Most Animal-Friendly Video Game" of the year. The relationship you form with your dog is part of it, but they also praise the game for being a "vegetarian's dream come true" since tofu is better for you than meat in the game.

PETA seems to be blind to the fact, however, that the game allows you to kick chickens just for the hell of it, and even rewards players for eating baby chickens in front of a talking door just to prove how evil you can really be (or at least you could in the first game).

    'Disgaea 2' Coming To PSP...Finally!

I loved the original Disgaea...on the PSP. I never played the game on the PS2. Maybe my introduction to Disgaea is why I had problems trying to complete the second game on the PS2. I got so used to grinding levels during television viewing while chilling on the couch. It looks like I'll finally be able to finish the second game on my Disgaea machine of choice, as Nippon Ichi revealed that Disgaea 2 will be coming out for the PSP.

'Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4' (PS2) – Review

When it comes to currently running RPG franchises, none impresses me as much as the Persona line of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Persona 3 was a game that transcended the genre for me as I found myself completely involved with the world of the game, becoming invested in the constant grinding, making love connections with various girls around the high school, and developing a bond with my squad. I was hooked! Along comes Persona 4 – the latest game in the series – that one can appreciate as a completely stand-alone game (though there are moments of crossover with Persona 3). Much like its predecessor, it's a game that does so many things so wonderfully it's hard not to be hooked.

Bob Protests Nintendo Over 'Bob's Game'

What? You don't know about Bob? Bob Pelloni spent over 15,000 hours making a game called Bob's Game...and he did it all by himself. I must admit though that the game looks kind of interesting. He's trying to get the game made for the Nintendo DS, but Nintendo isn't letting him know about whether he can have a SDK kit to use. He meets all the requirements (based on his info) so why is Nintendo being stingy?

In order to speed the process up and finally hear from them, Bob has barricaded himself in his office, refusing to leave until Nintendo approves his developer license application.

You can learn more about the game and see the live streaming video of his protest on his site.

Was 'Chrono Trigger' The First Rickroll?

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all-time and I'm currently working my way through the game yet again with the DS release. I thought I knew everything about the game, but I never had a clue that Robo's song sounds very similar to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," the song made popular by people doing Rickrolls. Listen to the mashup yourself and see if you think Chrono Trigger featured the original Rickroll before Rickrolling even came into existence.

First DLC Coming To 'Fable II'

I'm not a huge fan of downloadable content (DLC) unless it offers something up that adds to the already existing game...or either is free. The only worthwhile DLC I've experienced until now is the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles content for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It remains to be seen if Fable II's premium priced DLC - offers up a new area to explore with quests - will be worth the asking price, but the free goodies will be an easy download. The premium DLC sounds awfully familiar, however, as the director's cut of the original Fable introduced its own new area and it was snow-covered too.

'Chrono Trigger' DS Release Gets A New Ending

Chrono Trigger is one of my fondest gaming memories as well as one of my favorite games of all-time. The game could've been brought to the DS without a single change and I'd still have bought it, but luckily for fans new content is indeed being added, such as a new dungeon and monster battling system. Today comes news and screens that reveal the game will also have a new ending too! I never got all the endings, but to date Chrono Trigger is the only game I've purposely gone out of my way to play in order to experience more than one ending.

    'Fallout 3' (Xbox 360) – Review

It's hard to call Fallout 3 just an RPG. Players still roam around, grab quests, and level up after they've gained enough experience, but it's so much more about the experience and downtime rather than the linear goal that drives you forward. You see, Fallout 3 isn't just an RPG, but rather a life simulator of what it must be like if the world actually did suffer an apocalypse. I've too often found myself slowly shuffling towards a nearby city, my bag packed with so many items I can't run anymore, and a crippled leg holding me back. It's not an easy way of life outside the Vault, having to survive fights with mutants and scrounging all the items I can. I walk towards the salvation of a walled city and must remind myself it's just a game, because if I don't the bleakness starts to eat away at me and I feel the sense of hopelessness that surely plagues the citizens of this new world. It's hard not to be moved by the game. Throughout it all, however, it's still a phenomenal achievement as both an excellent game and benchmark in the history of gaming.

'Fallout 3' Brotherhood of Steel Statue Auction

I want one of these Brotherhood of Steel statues so badly! Hey Bethesda, we're still cool right? I mean, hey, you sent me a Christmas card this last season...can't you send me a statue for Christmas this year? Oh well, looks like I'll have to start bidding in this auction, where the highest bidder will receive a huge Brotherhood of Steel statue that was used as promotion at various events. I saw the statue at E3 this year and it was cool - certainly worthy to stand around anywhere in your home.

'Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2' (Nintendo DS) – Review

The first Path of the Ninja was a decent RPG that took the Naruto characters and led them through the history of the series, retelling stories that fans were already familiar with. Path of the Ninja 2 is overall a much-improved game, including a brand-new story, 30 characters, and an online battle component. It isn't perfection, but it's an enjoyable time.

'Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood' (DS) - Review

Many people were worried about the original Mario RPG when it was first released, because surely an established franchise mascot couldn't fit well into the RPG formula. As history has proven, however, that wasn't the case. The latest mascot taking to the RPG circuit is Sonic, starring in his first RPG called Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. It's a strange amalgamation of a game, blending typical Sonic characters with Elite Beat Agents and a little Knights of the Old Republic for good measure. It's an amusing game, but one that is ultimately hampered by its uniqueness.

'Persona 4' Expansion Goodies At Amazon

Persona 3 is one of my favorite RPGs of all-time, so when word came that number four would be hitting stores in December, I quickly went and pre-bought the game in order to get some extra goodies when it releases. Amazon is adding on to the extras by unleashing an "expansion" pack of extra collectibles to coincide with the game. For just $29.99 you'll receive:

    * Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 game sold separately
    * Complete your Persona 4 music collection with this CD containing tracks not found on the CD packed with the game
    * 100% XL cotton t-shirt featuring Persona Konohana Sakuya is exclusive to this package
    * The 2009 calendar has been exclusively designed for this pack
    * Exclusive 8 1/2 inch tall Teddie plush direct from the game

Note: The game is not included as this is only to get extra collectibles.

'Fable 2' CE Less Special Now

I guess this is what I get for ordering a special edition online. Fans aren't losing too much, because only the special box, fate cards, and collectible Hobbe figure have been done away with. People who buy the collector's edition will still get the exclusive dungeon and Master Chief themed armor and weapon, along with a making of DVD, and the price has been reduced to $69.98. Oh well, the price is nice, but I really wanted a Hobbe figure!

'Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure' (DS) - Review

RPGs have a habit of staring emo guys as the main protagonist, so it's actually refreshing to find a game that flips the formula on its head, this time featuring a young, teen girl helplessly in love with a prince, and who must save her prince if she's to live happily ever after. Rhapsody is a weird musical adventure, and though it's short and easy, it's a sweet little adventure game that will charm the pants off you.

'Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen' (DS) – Review

One of Square Enix's best, but often-overlooked series, has always been the Dragon Quest franchise. Continuing their trend of constant remakes, Square Enix has just recently brought out Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, a welcomed change from all the remakes the company has been producing, since this time around it's a game not many people have played since it was originally released back in the day on the NES. Diehard turn-based fans will likely find themselves in heaven, but others will find a good game, but marred by tradition.
