'Prince of Persia' (Xbox 360) – Review
Tue, 12/09/2008 - 12:15 — Jason Van Horn
Though the Sands of Time trilogy suffered from more personality disorders than a woman named Sybil, the three games were still a magical adventure filled with extravagant lands, revolutionary platforming, and an amazing sense of storytelling. The prince from the Sands of Time is done, however, but that doesn't mean Ubisoft is done with the ideals of the character. Prince of Persia is the first installment in another planned trilogy, and if the opening part is any indicator, it's a trilogy that will dazzle like the other.

'Gears of Wars 2' (Xbox 360) – Review
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 12:24 — Jason Van Horn
Gears of War 2 is like running across an old friend. You might not remember every little detail about them right away, but with enough time memories come flooding back, and soon you're yelling Cole Train at your TV as loud as you can. Gears of War 2 is a great single-player game and co-op experience, but when it comes to the multiplayer you'd be better off taking a chainsaw to it (at least when it comes to Epic's matchmaking system).
Zombies Invade 'GTA4'
Fri, 10/24/2008 - 07:35 — Jason Van Horn
It's a great time to be a zombie, because not only are they invading such MMOs this Halloween season as World of Warcraft, but now they are taking it to the realm of sandbox games with Grand Theft Auto 4, where players are becoming zombies by either killing GTA4 staff or someone who killed a staff member. A quarantine is being teased as the only answer to the problem, so could a zombie apocalypse scenario be the first downloadable content for Xbox 360 owners?
Controversy Delays 'LittleBigPlanet'
Mon, 10/20/2008 - 09:13 — Jason Van Horn
It's a sad day for LittleBigPlanet fans, as the wait is going to be just a little longer, as the game has been delayed a week due to verses of the Quran being in a song used in the game. Personally it feels like a strange reason to delay the game, considering that players will be able to make seemingly any kind of level they want. In theory, people could make themed levels that do everything from promote racism to blasting religion. We already know the game can simulate sex, so anything is possible.
'No More Heroes' Sequel Incoming
Thu, 10/09/2008 - 10:05 — Jason Van Horn
No More Heroes was a stylish and quirky game, but one that I consider the best to this date on the still relatively young Wii. Surely a game that fits in a small niche wouldn't do well enough to warrant a sequel, but it looks like that's what No More Heroes has gone ahead and done. A brief trailer was shown at the Tokyo Game Show and already I can't wait for it to be released.
'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed' Gets A Ton Of DLC
Wed, 10/01/2008 - 10:14 — Jason Van Horn
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has proven itself to be a big hit for Lucasarts, thanks in part to the fact that it's official canon and allows players to wield The Force like never before. Lucasarts aren't content with just sitting back and relaxing, as they'll be unleashing a series of downloadable content for the game, though whether for free or a price remains to be seen. The content set to be unleashed (ouch, didn't even notice that pun) includes a new campaign level set around a Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Other content will include new character skins for your main character, including Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto.
'Mirror's Edge' Collector's Edition Announced
Fri, 09/26/2008 - 09:00 — Jason Van Horn
Is it really a shock that yet another game is coming out with a limited collector's edition of the game? Admittedly, if I had the money, I would've purchased the Dead Space LE yesterday, and I'd get this collector's edition of Mirror's Edge, which doesn't come with any silly making of features or anything, but instead comes with a replica bag like the one the main character wears in the game. Do I need a bag? No, but it looks nice, and I like collecting stuff. So how does the $130 price tag set with you?
The Force Is Strong With 'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed'
Wed, 09/24/2008 - 08:50 — Jason Van Horn
I thought the demo was really fun, but many critics have given the shaft to Lucasarts' latest - Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Is it the ability to wield powers like never before? Is it the fact that the game is officially canon, bridging the gap between the third and fourth movies? Whatever the reason, in just a week since it's release, the game has sold 1.5 million copies, making it the fastest-selling Star Wars and LucasArts game of all time.
Possibly The Best Videogame Ad Of All-Time - 'Wario Land: Shake It'
Wed, 09/24/2008 - 07:39 — Jason Van Horn
There are too many games coming out this week, so Wario Land: Shake It will sadly fall to the wayside at least for me this week. However, I can't help but think the following ad for the game is one of the cleverest ones I've ever seen. I think you might have to have IE or at least Flash to see it, but I believe it is worth it.
Tricia Helfer Talks About Playing Black Cat
Tue, 09/23/2008 - 10:09 — Jason Van Horn
A few of the recent Spider-Man games haven't been all that great, but based on trailers and some early gameplay footage, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows might be a worthy addition. The game has Spider-Man defending New York after what looks to be an attack by alien symbiotes. One of the voice stars of the game is the lovely Tricia Helfer, who would actually make a great Black Cat in real movie Spider-Man movie with her hair colored white.
'God of War' Being Sued For Similarities
Thu, 09/18/2008 - 08:41 — Jason Van Horn
It's surprising that it's taken this long for a lawsuit to be brought against Sony and David Jaffe for the creation of God of War since it's not exactly a new game. It's not surprising, however, that someone sues another person for alledgely stealing their idea. The world is how old now? Chances are pretty good that there isn't a new story idea that can be done that isn't similar to some other story throughout history.
Soulja Boy Reviews 'Braid'
Wed, 09/17/2008 - 08:06 — Jason Van Horn
I didn't want to post this on the site since so many other gaming blogs were also running with it, but after being stupid enough to click on the link, it deserves a posting for the sheer stupidity of Soulja Boy. I mean, damn, this boy is dumb. The guy spends half the "review" rewinding time and giggling at it like it's the funniest thing in the world. You can catch the video after the link.
Mark Hamill Reprising His Role As Joker
Wed, 09/10/2008 - 08:35 — Jason Van Horn
Heath Ledger is perhaps the greatest Joker we've ever seen, but in terms of vocals and classics, Mark Hamill did a fantastic job as the Joker during the Batman cartoon. The upcoming Batman game - Batman: Arkham Asylum - looks phenomenal in regards to gameplay and graphics, and now word comes out that Hamill will indeed be reprising his role as the voice of Joker in the game.
PS3 Gets 'Mirror's Edge' DLC
Wed, 09/03/2008 - 08:51 — Jason Van Horn
When it comes to games that are released across multiple systems, I usually go for the Xbox 360 version. One of the most interesting titles of late is Mirror's Edge, which will be getting some exclusive PS3 downloadable content. It remains to be seen what that content is going to be, but if it's anything substantial, it could be the swing vote to get many people to buy the PS3 version if they have the choice between the console versions.
Want 'Gears of War 2'? You'll Need An Xbox 360
Mon, 09/01/2008 - 07:53 — Jason Van Horn
If you've been salivating at the screens and footage and news about Gears of War 2 like I have for the past few months, you'll need to go and buy a 360 if you haven't already got one, because Cliff Bleszinski has just came out and made it known that Gears of War 2 won't ever appear on any other system or the PC...ever! It's nice to see an exclusive game actually be exclusive for a change.
