    'Zombieland' Team Tackling 'Deadpool' Film?

Zombieland was a fun - though flawed - movie. One thing that was solid, however, was the writing. It's not official yet, but CHUD is reporting that Zombieland's writers - Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick - could be handling the writing duties for the upcoming Deadpool movie. I've seen the movie and read the Deadpool comics...Reese and Wernick definitely have a sense of humor and lightheartedness that would fit well with a Deadpool film.

    Marvel Introduces Hitman Monkey

Great Marvel character or greatest Marvel character? That is the question I pose to you today, as Marvel comics announces their newest creation - Hitman Monkey.

"Hitman Monkey is a soulful, tortured, jazz-loving 30-pound engine of destruction," explains Executive Editor Axel Alonso. "Think Chow Yun Fat from 'The Killer' as a monkey. To be specific, [a Japanese Macaque] monkey."

He'll be making his first appearance in a Marvel Digital Comics Exclusive and then his first official comic appearance will come in Deadpool #20.

    'Deadpool Team-up' #899 – Review

Does Deadpool really deserve three ongoing monthly series? The first Deadpool series is fantastic, but the only thing of worth in Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth so far has been the inclusion of a big-breasted woman and Zombie Deadpool. Now we've got Deadpool Team-up, which will have a secondary guest every month as the issues count backwards towards zero. It's a premise that could work, but will fans enjoy seeing Deadpool team with random Marvel characters in stories that are finished in one issue?

Lady Deadpool? A New 'Deadpool' Series?

I love reading Deadpool, but Merc With A Mouth has only been ho-hum, while the third team-up series had a very fun and promising start with issue #900 (the series counts backwards). With three books and a movie coming out, it seems that Deadpool could start overstaying his welcome. Writer Victor Gischler doesn't think so, however, as he's not only going to be introducing the character of Lady Deadpool, but suggests that there might even be a fourth Deadpool series in the works.

"Well, Deadpool and his posse, which includes Doctor Betty and Headpool, leave our reality to take care of business in another reality. In between are some of these other dimensions, which is how this comes about. But we are taking it to [a different] dimension. I won't be too specific about it. I'll let people find out when they find out. Also, we've got Lady Deadpool coming back, but not in MERC WITH A MOUTH. She comes back for some special stuff later on in DEADPOOL CORPS."

Update On Feel of 'Deadpool' Film

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner (who has been involved with every installment of the series), shed some light on different subject matters regarding upcoming X-Men based movies. Here is what Donner had to say on the Deadpool film:

"It's going to be a dark, snarky, very funny movie. It's the hardest story to tell, I think. There's no clear cut villain - though you do have great baddies from the comic-books like Black Tom, Slayback, Blind Al and the Weasel. Blind Al is this blind woman in his house, who he abuses and mocks… it's terrible. But you find out that she was a convict who did something terrible and he saved her from execution. So he lets her live in his house and she looks after him, but they both torture each other. Anyway, there are good stories and we're figuring out which ones to incorporate.

We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff. Ryan's mentioned this in an interview already but there are parts where he's going to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the audience in the cinema. We have to work out how to do that. I don't know that Fox will agree with all our decisions, but we'll see!"

    'Deadpool' #14 – Review

Good ol' Deadpool – always around to pick me up whenever I'm down. I'm still hating your art, but I must say that I'm enjoying your pirate adventure despite my early doubts after hearing about the plan. I find myself disappointed now, however, after learning this pirate excursion was only two issues long. How could you do this to me?

'Deadpool: Suicide Kings' #5 (out of 5) – Review

Deadpool: Suicide Kings has been a blast to read. The story isn't lasting and won't have an affect on anything to come, but just seeing Deadpool do his shtick while teaming up with various heroes is just fun to read about. The miniseries wraps up like it started, with Deadpool cracking jokes, punching people, and making references only fellow nerds will understand or appreciate.

    'Deadpool' #13 – Review

Deadpool ended with – quite literally – a bang the last time around, as he got so bored of laying low after being paid off by Bullseye to disappear that he put a bullet through his brain. Luckily, Deadpool does have that healing factor, so he comes around not too long after having been struck by an epiphany…he's going to be a pirate! It's a book just as funny, though the artwork has suffered.

    'Deadpool' #12 – Review

Deadpool ends the first year of his new series with a bang…quite literally. The final issue in the Deadpool/Bullseye arc ends in a surprising fashion, but not before the two trade a few more blows and witty one-liners. If action and hilarity is what you're craving, Deadpool fulfills your every desire.

Reynolds Says 'Deadpool' Will Break The Fourth Wall

If you've read any of the Deadpool comics, you should know that one of the big things he constantly does is break the fourth wall, where he talks directly to the reader who is flipping through his book. Ryan Reynolds - who played Deadpool in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie and will star as the character in his own spinoff film, says that if he gets his way Deadpool will definitely break the fourth wall in the movie.

“Break the fourth wall? Oh yeah, he’s got to. I want to see him break the Great Wall."

'Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth' #1 – Review

Who would've thought that Deadpool would've become as big a star as he is right now? Not only does Merc With A Mouth represent the second ongoing series the character is involved in right now, but he's also got a miniseries happening, he's been involved with two crossovers, and he's got a starring movie coming in the future. It's a good time to be Deadpool, but is the new book a good series to pickup?

    'Deadpool' #11 – Review

Two of the most successful guns for hire – Deadpool and Bullseye – continue their battle this issue, after Norman Osborn sent his best soldier in to do the job The Thunderbolts failed at: kill Deadpool. Things were looking bleak last issue as Deadpool was shot through the head with an arrow, but as it turns out, it takes more than that to stop the Merc With A Mouth.

    Reynolds Talks Potential 'Deadpool' Characters

After appearing in the hit X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, Ryan Reynolds - who played Deadpool - is getting his own spinoff. Reynolds seems to be involved a good bit in the process, talking about what characters he'd like to see in the movie and which ones might appear and which might not.

“I’m hoping Cable will be in it. Look, I’ve made no secret that I love that character. I also love some of the more preliminary characters at the beginning of the series. I like Ajax — that’s an easier character to put in. And Black Tom,” he revealed. “I think there’s a lot of different villains [we’re considering]; you could do a whole bunch of villains in [the first film], or you could just have Deadpool going up against one guy. We’ll see.”

Typhoid Mary To Appear In Marvel Movie?

Typhoid Mary has appeared in a Marvel movie before - Electra - but beyond that it's still surprising news to hear that she might be appearing in a new Marvel comics movie. Katee Sackhoff - best known to fans as Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica - is reported to have gone into a comic store and purchased all the comics they had about Typhoid Mary, making it likely she is in the running to play the character in a film.

Typhoid Mary has ties to both Daredevil (who is being rumored to get a reboot) and Deadpool (recently announced to be getting his own film), so it looks like she might be a strong candidate for appearing in one of those properties.

'Deadpool: Suicide Kings' #2 – Review

The second issue in the Deadpool: Suicide Kings mini continues the wit and charm of the first issue while adding more Punisher to the mix. It's not a deep book, but if you don't find the fun in reading this lighthearted romp of a book, I have to question the health of your funny bone. If you're looking for a great intro book into the world of Deadpool, the Suicide Kings mini is proving itself to be an excellent gateway book.
