'Green Day: Rock Band' Releasing June 8th
Fri, 03/12/2010 - 09:29 — Jason Van Horn
My favorite band of all-time is Green Day and Dookie was the first CD I ever bought. Though I've kind of fallen out of love with the rhythm genre of games, I'm such a big fan of the band that it's goig to be a must buy for me when the game releases on June 8th.

'Green Day: Rock Band' Announced
Mon, 12/14/2009 - 10:40 — Jason Van Horn
Green Day is absolutely my favorite band. Dookie was the first CD I ever bought and I've been closely following them as a fan ever since. So of course I was pumped to hear that Green Day is getting the Rock Band treatment, much like The Beatles got. I can't wait to own it! Here's the official announcement and trailer.
'We Cheer 2' (Wii) – Review
Thu, 11/19/2009 - 13:17 — Jason Van Horn
I've always had a certain fondness for cheerleaders – many of my high school crushes were on the school's varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders. Also, if the Bring It On series has proven anything, it's that being a guy on the team isn't a bad place to be. With that said, however, I never could see myself being a member of the cheerleading team. So imagine my surprise then when the unexpected We Cheer 2 showed up at my door and forced me to become something I'd never thought possible – a cheerleader. Another thing I'd never thought possible was me actually liking We Cheer 2, but that's exactly what happened.
Buy Clothes On Black Friday - Get 'LEGO Rock Band' For Free
Fri, 11/06/2009 - 09:06 — Jason Van Horn
Black Friday is still a few weeks away, but the ads for said deals are already starting to hit the Internet. One of the best gaming deals so far is coming by way of...Old Navy? Yep! If you purchase $20 worth of clothing and accessories, you'll get LEGO Rock Band for absolutely free. No word on how many copies they'll have of the game or for what system, but with the stores opening at 3AM that morning, you better get your butt up early.
'The Beatles: Rock Band' (Xbox 360) – Review
Mon, 09/21/2009 - 10:43 — Vrej Hezaran
The Beatles: Rock Band was a game made for me. Don't get me wrong, I love other music, of course. I love playing music and singing, so when Rock Band came out, I was thrilled. However, it wasn't until The Beatles: Rock Band that I actually went out and purchased one of these music games, and I'm not disappointed. When I was little, I grew up on Beatles songs, so a game devoted to them is understandably appealing to me. Indeed, looking at the song listing, I hardly even need the on-screen lyrics for the majority of them.
'Audition' (PC) – Preview
Wed, 07/29/2009 - 11:55 — Jason Van Horn
Before Audition came along, I thought I was pretty rhythmatically inclined. I can nail Guitar Hero and Rock Band songs up until the last half of the hard modes. I've beaten every song in the Elite Beat Agents and Ouendan games on every difficulty. So why can't I master four little arrow keys enough to not finish dead last or next to dead last in every game of Audition I play? You'll have to start at the bottom, but it's quite fun to So You Think You Can Dance your way to the top as you get better at the game.
'DJ Hero' Peripheral
Fri, 05/08/2009 - 08:21 — Jason Van Horn
You've rocked out on guitars, drums, and the microphone, but what about those wannabe musicians out there that want to spin the turn tables? Your game will be coming soon, as DJ Hero is a reality and will be hitting at some time. Until then, however, check out the first pictures of the DJ peripheral that will be coming with the game. The colored buttons are a lot like the guitar controllers already out there, but how they'll be used with scratching remains to be seen.
'DJ Max Fever' (PSP) – Review
Fri, 02/13/2009 - 14:56 — Jason Van Horn
I try to play every rhythm based game I can get my hands on, whether it's Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Elite Beat Agents, etc. I'm not usually a master of the games, but I still have fun with them even when I'm not perfecting every song or rocking everything on the highest difficulty. DJ Max Fever is not one of those games, as it's unforgiving, frustrating, and easily the most hardcore rhythm game I've experienced. For those who want a challenge you'll really enjoy this game, but for the casual (or even only average) rhythm gamer, you'll be left regretting your purchase more than anything else.
Will The Beatles Finally Appear In 'Rock Band'?
Thu, 10/30/2008 - 07:45 — Jason Van Horn
A lot of artists have appeared throughout the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, but The Beatles is one band never to have graced any of the games. The big rumor supposedly coming out today is that MTV will be holding a press conference to announce some big news. Given MTV's involvement in Rock Band and Apple Corps' ties to The Beatles, two plus two seem to equal four, and so it looks like The Beatles will be appearing in Rock Band in one form or another - either downloadable content or an expansion.

Wal-Mart Gets The Exclusive AC/DC 'Rock Band' Expansion
Tue, 09/30/2008 - 08:42 — Jason Van Horn
It was only rumored up until now, but now the truth has been revealed. A Rock Band: AC/DC game is coming out to rock your televisions! Woohoo! As a big AC/DC fan, this expansion is a must buy right off the bat. Thankfully, I have a Wal-Mart only a short drive away, which is a good thing since the product will be exclusive to Wal-Mart only. The game will run about $30 and include the following songs:
1. "Thunderstruck"
2. "Shoot to Thrill"
3. "Back in Black"
4. "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be"
5. "Heatseeker"
6. "Fire Your Guns"
7. "Jailbreak"
8. "The Jack"
9. "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"
10. "Moneytalks"
11. "Hells Bells"
12. "High Voltage"
13. "Whole Lotta Rosie"
14. "You Shook Me All Night Long"
15. "T.N.T."
16. "Let There Be Rock"
17. "Highway To Hell"
18. "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)"
That's a killer lineup of some awesome rock right there and practically reads like a greatest hits album.
Do We Really Need A 'Guitar Hero: Hendrix'
Thu, 09/18/2008 - 08:48 — Jason Van Horn
A lot of people hated the idea of a Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, but as a personal fan, I ate it up. The announcement of Guitar Hero: Metallica seemed to warm people more to the idea of band centric games, and I'd plunk down a purchase for a Metallica game too (as long as there are versions of One and Turn The Page). However, news of a possible Guitar Hero: Hendrix falls on deaf ears for me. Guitar Hero fans will certainly want more games, but is the fanbase really old enough to appreciate Hendrix or even be fans?
'Rock Band: AC/DC' - Yes, Please
Thu, 09/11/2008 - 08:33 — Jason Van Horn
If you've seen the latest Rock Band trailer, you've heard AC/DC rocking it out, but imagine if you had a whole game featuring nothing but AC/DC songs. Highway to Hell! Hell's Bells! Back in Black! TNT! Thunderstruck! So many great songs, and if the idea of an AC/DC centric game doesn't have you smiling from ear to ear and imagining the possibilities, then you aren't a true Rock n' Roll fan.
Buy Your Custom 'Rock Band 2' Figures
Tue, 08/26/2008 - 08:19 — Jason Van Horn
Will this really happen? I hope so, but stuff like this was planned around the release of the first Rock Band, and none of it happened then so why is this different? The price isn't that bad for what you are getting, so if you really find yourself digging the rock n' roll lifestyle, perhaps you'll be happy buying your own figure.
'Go! Go! Break Steady' (XBLA) - Interview with Ahmed Usman Khalid
Tue, 07/29/2008 - 13:40 — Vrej Hezaran
Since July 23rd, 2008, Xbox users have had access to a pretty interesting Xbox Live Arcade title. While not at first an obvious marriage of genres, Little Boy Games' Go! Go! Break Steady combines a musical rhythm game with a puzzler, and veneering it with an art style matched by nothing else on XBLA. GGBS is the first game from the upstart company, founded in Vancouver, B.C., by Ahmed Usman Khalid and his business partner Ivan Tung. We had a chance to ask Ahmed some questions concerning their break dancing puzzler.
(To coincide with the release of the title, Little Boy Games is running a free t-shirt promotion. Details can be found on their website)
