Doctor Who
Could 'Doctor Who' Feature First Black Doctor?
Tue, 10/21/2008 - 09:21 — Jason Van Horn
I'm against the news today about a new Doctor. Oh, don't get me wrong, I have no problem if the next Doctor is black or not, I just don't want them to get rid of David Tennant. Reports today suggest that the Doctor potentially could be black for the first time in the show's history, played by actor Paterson Joseph. Based on what Paterson says, however, he's just one in a long run of possibly replacements. As reported on Sci-Fi Wire:
Joseph's agent reportedly denied the Doctor Who rumor when approached about it last week. When SCI FI Wire contacted Joseph directly, his initial response was a text message that said, "I am on a list of God knows how many others, but flattered to be considered."

Tennant In 'Doctor Who' Movie?
Fri, 09/12/2008 - 08:33 — Jason Van Horn
After Christopher Eccleston's first and only season as the Doctor on Doctor Who, I didn't think I'd ever like anyone as much as I did him. Things soon changed when David Tennant took over the role, and I thought this season I'd have to say goodbye to another Doctor I enjoyed. Fans might get to enjoy Tennant as the Doctor a little longer, however, as Tennant is rumored to be signing up for the fifth season if a deal for a Doctor Who movie can be inked as well. David Tennant as the Doctor in a movie and a new season - sign the man as quick as possible.
Could A 'Doctor Who' Movie Be In The Works?

In terms of pure sci-fi currently on television, I don't think any other series tops Doctor Who as the best of the best. Lost comes a close second and Battlestar Galactica was once my king of the hill, but Doctor Who is just a great, fun, and usually light-hearted show. While fans are going to have to wait until 2010 for a new full season, we will have some specials next season, and it even sounds like a film might be in the works. Doctor Who on the big screen - yes please.
Moffat Chats About 'Doctor Who'
Fri, 07/25/2008 - 10:13 — Jason Van Horn
The SCI FI Channel has only got a handful of episodes of Doctor Who left to show until everything changes...and fans have to wait a whole year and some change for a new season. The specials should help ease the pain, but probably not by much. Moffat is taking over the series from Russell T. Davies, but he doesn't have any dramatic changes happening any time soon. Moffat told Sci-Fi Wire:
"There are a bunch of things I've always wanted to see in Doctor Who, yes, but now it's slightly different--it's very different in my new position," Moffat said. "Obviously, I only turned up once a year, and practically my brief was to write, in effect, the Moffat episode--the one that's very different, the one that's a bit timey-wimey or a bit scary. And that's all they were expecting. And they would just tell me, 'Go, and do your thing.' So I would do my Moffat-y thing--whatever the f--k that is--in a very, very pronounced way. But you couldn't have a whole series like that. If you started a series with 'Silence of the Library' or 'Blink,' people would turn off. You can't have that as the first episode. It's just too grim. So it's different contemplating it from this position, very, very different."
'Doctor Who' (4.13) "Journey's End" - Review

I'm a relative newcomer to Doctor Who. Sure, I know of its illustrious history - the TARDIS, regeneration...the Daleks. Old episodes played on PBS all the time when I was younger, but I never really sat down and watched any. That's pretty odd, since I like science fiction and shows from the UK. Anyway, before series 4 aired, I made it a point to watch every episode of the revived show, starting with 2005's first series. And here we are, at the end of series 4, where everything comes to a head.
