You Really Do Lose In 'Lose/Lose'

I'm almost tempted not to even report on this story, as I'd hate to see public computers ruined by this game, or have people accidentally destroy their own computers. Then again, it's a really unique premise for a game, which tests how much you're willing to do to "win" a game.

The Lose/Lose of the title comes from what happens if you play the game. If you play the game and get killed - you lose. If you play the game and win - you lose all the files on your computer that you're destroying (the aliens of the game are represented as computer files you actually destroy).

'South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play!' Trailer

I haven't been interested in a South Park game since the dreadful FPS game for the N64. The franchise has another game coming out soon for the Xbox Live Arcade - South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! - and while I'd probably rather play Plants Vs. Zombies for a tower defense game, it at least looks like it tackles the humor of the series pretty well with some nice nods for fans. Check the trailer out.

Casual Fridays: 'Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown' (PC) – Review

If it's not a game being released for consoles or sold in a box at a brick and mortar store, we as gamers tend to overlook them, regardless of the fact that it actually might be a great little gem of a game. More and more people are discovering these casual games, however, making it a profitable business that has been booming as of late, as more people find themselves with a decreased amount of time in which to pursue their long-time love of gaming. Whether you've got a weekend to yourself or only a few minutes throughout your hectic day, let us point you in the direction of some casual games that might just be what you're looking for.

Welcome to Casual Fridays, where you can loosen the tie, put on some jeans, and take it easy. This week we delve under the sea to review Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown. Let's hope we don't find Nemo, because otherwise we're going to have to make him a snack.

'Plants Vs. Zombies' (PC) – Review

PopCap – who released the addictive casual friendly Peggle – have their next big hit on their hands: Plants Vs. Zombies. Having never really played a "tower defense" type game before, I had some trepidation at whether the gameplay would thrill me despite loving the graphical styling and whimsy of the game; as it turns out my fears were unfounded. Let's see if your green thumbs are enough to drive away the decay of the dead.

'Plants Vs Zombies' - Best Trailer Ever

PopCap makes some fabulous games, and I'd highly recommend everyone go play Peggle! The company has just released a trailer for their new, upcoming game - Plants Vs Zombies - which looks like it could be their best yet. It's a tower defense game where you use plants to defeat zombies. Watch the video and see if you aren't humming this tune the rest of the day.

'Burn Zombie Burn' (PSN) – Review

Zombies are never a bad thing. Zombies on fire is always fun. It was these two deciding factors that ultimately convinced me to purchase the PSN arcade game Burn Zombie Burn. Like most classic arcade games, it's ridiculously easy in premise, but once you start delving into the game and striving for those high scores, Burn Zombie Burn is a deep and rewarding experience.

'Big Bang Mini' (Nintendo DS) – Review

For $20 bucks you certainly do get a fun little game in Big Bang Mini, though it does have some drawbacks. It's a pyromaniac's dream come true as you setoff on a worldwide adventure by train and destroy various enemies with a series of firework blasts. You probably won't be sticking with the game for long or gaming in large chunks, but for the occasional quick play for a level or two, Big Bang Mini is a blast.

'Galaga Legions' - Review (Xbox 360)

Galaga was the first arcade game I ever loved, and it remains to this day the only arcade game I've ever achieved the high score for. I didn't expect much from Microsoft at E3 this year in terms of their Xbox Live Arcade games, but that was before Galaga Legions popped up onto the screen and stole my heart, relighting the fires of my childhood. Galaga Legions isn't a simple retelling of the franchise with better graphics either, as the game is almost completely new in every single way, while still retaining the heart and soul of the original.

Play The Hachiko As A 'The Last Guy' Level

I just learned about the Japanese game The Last Guy yesterday, but I'm being flooded with news about it today. The premise is you run around actual satellite photos, trying to save as many humans as possible in this Pac-Man-esque chase game. The Last Guy website, however, will turn any site of your choosing into a game board, letting you actually play the game on your website of choice. I hate to say it, but sadly The Hachiko doesn't make a great game board (darn our lack of white space), but still it's a neat marketing idea.

Go on and give the website a try!

'Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2' – Review (Xbox 360)

When it comes to games on Xbox Live Arcade, you always remember your first. I popped my Arcade cherry with Geometry Wars, an old-school arcade game with new-school design and principals. It's a game that has infuriated me with its difficulty, but yet I constantly go back for more. Geometry Wars is the dominatrix in my life, constantly punishing me when I just want more. I wasn't the only one needing a dose of punishment, however, as the creators have just unleashed the sequel, and it's even more addicting than ever before.

    Feminist Hate 'Fat Princess'

I didn't get to personally try the game at E3 this year, but the premise sounds hilarious and looks fun. Two teams of knights basically play catpure the flag, but only using a princess as a flag. The twist is, however, that you can feed your princess, making her fat, and thus too heavy to carry. Sounds like fun. Several feminists don't find the preimse too amusing though.

Melissa McEwan of Shakesville writes: "Congrats on your awesome new game, Sony. I'm positively thrilled to see such unyielding dedication to creating a new generation of fat-hating, heteronormative assholes," while Feminist Gamer's "Mighty Ponygirl" suggests a simple gameplay switcheroo would solve the problem (and change the title). "Instead of running out into the forest to find cake to fatten up the princess with, why not go out and find gold (which is a lot heavier than cake) to stuff into a treasure chest," she says, adding, "The more gold in the chest, the heavier it would be, and the harder it would be to carry."
