Will Hugo Weaving Play Red Skull In 'Captain America' Film?
Fri, 03/12/2010 - 13:10 — Jason Van Horn
Hugo Weaving is an excellent actor and has done great work before as the villain of a piece. If Marvel Studios get their way, they'll have Hugo Weaving playing Red Skull in the upcoming Captain America movie, as he's apparently their top choice to play the villain. I think it personally sounds like an excellent bit of casting.

Could Captain Kirk Play Captain America?
Mon, 02/15/2010 - 10:41 — Jason Van Horn
Chris Pine did an excellent job as Captain Kirk in the recent Star Trek movie, so, if this rumor is true, I don't mind talk that he's on the short list of actors the studio is looking at wearing the shield in the upcoming Captain America film. It's all rumor right now, but stayed tune if it develops more.
'Captain America' Film Will Feature The Invaders
Tue, 02/09/2010 - 11:44 — Jason Van Horn
Director Joe Johnston, while on junket to promote The Wolfman, revealed to CHUD that The Invaders are indeed going to be in the Captain America film he's directing, saying, "They'll be in the entire second half." CHUD lists some very likely possibilities as for who from The Invaders could show-up on screen.
The Human Torch
Union Jack
Spitfire
Blazing Skull
Silver Scorpion
Namor, The Sub-Mariner
'Captain America' Joining USO Show For Movie
Mon, 02/08/2010 - 09:12 — Jason Van Horn
It can be hard to adapt comics into movies, as there are some elements of one medium that aren't as easily acceptable in another: case in point the upcoming Captain America film. Instead of just throwing him out there wearing the red, white, and blue, the writers/director are going to have that be a costume he wears for USO shows in order to hopefully make it more realistic.
"The costume is a flag, but the way we're getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit. After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He's the only one and they can't make more. So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it."
'Captain America: Reborn' #1 (of 5) – Review
Thu, 07/02/2009 - 13:06 — Jason Van Horn
The death of Captain America last year was a big thing and a death I thought would be fairly long lasting. Sure, everyone pretty much assumed Steve Rogers would be back at some point in time, but to come back this soon? Plus, coming back in such a somewhat hokey sci-fi way? I know Marvel comics don't exactly go for believability, but the way it seems the writers are going to bring back Cap is a pretty big stretch. It could become a solid mini, but I'm not initially sold on this first issue.
'Captain America' #600 – Review
Thu, 06/18/2009 - 11:00 — Jason Van Horn
I've never been a loyal follower of Captain America, though I've picked up scattered issues of his series, reading about him in books like the Civil War mini, and picking up such pivotal issues as his death and the rise of Bucky as the new official Captain America. The epically large 100-page issue number 600 was released this week, celebrating the anniversary of Captain America's death. It's a great look at a world without Steve Rogers, but as the book hints, he might not be as dead as we initially thought.
Marvel Adjusts Film Release Dates
Fri, 03/13/2009 - 08:31 — Jason Van Horn
Marvel has got a lot of comic book film adaptations coming out, but they've just recently had to making changes and adjust their timeline for when certain movies will be coming out (barring future problems that could always happen). The new projected timeline is as follows:
Iron Man 2
May 7, 2010 - May 7, 2010
Thor
July 16, 2010 - June 17, 2011
The First Avenger: Captain America
May 6, 2011 - July 22, 2011
The Avengers
July 15, 2011 - May 4, 2012
Joe Johnston Set To Direct 'Captain America'
Mon, 11/10/2008 - 09:53 — Jason Van Horn
Joe Johnston - who has directed such films as the under appreciated The Rocketeer, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Hidalgo and others - is now set to helm the Captain America film, which is instrumentally important in order to officially get The Avengers film out the gate. Unless something changes, Johnston's Captain America will arrive in theaters on May 6, 2011.
'Captain America' Makes Second Movie Cameo By Way Of DVD
Wed, 10/15/2008 - 09:16 — Jason Van Horn
Fans already know by now that Marvel has two big projects they are working on turning into film - Captain America and The Avengers. What you might not realize (like me) is that when the DVD of The Incredible Hulk hits, Captain America will have made his second movie appearance. Yahoo News has up the story, showcasing such cameo moments as a partially done shield that appeared briefly in Iron Man, and now a picture of a frozen Captain America that appears on the DVD release of The Incredible Hulk.
'Captain America' Film Will Not Be Modernized
Wed, 10/08/2008 - 09:18 — Jason Van Horn
Captain America first got his start during World War II, but certainly the world today would rather have their hero with a new fangled shield, fighting terrorists, and kicking butt in 2008. Right? Apparently no, as the Captain America film is set to take place during World War II, telling the story as it was originally written instead of modernizing it for today's day and age. It's good to see someone with a brain is already working on the film and refusing to change up the way Captain America's story should be told.
'Captain America: White' #0 - Review
Fri, 08/29/2008 - 11:12 — Jason Van Horn
Before reading Batman: The Long Halloween, the names Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale were pretty foreign to me. I'm sure I probably saw their works in previous books I've collected, but their names didn't ring in my head like some other writers and artists. Walking through the comic store yesterday after picking up my pull list, I stumbled across Captain America: White #0, a prequel to an upcoming origin story about the early adventures of Captain America and Bucky. Much like Batman, I've only followed the character here and there, more specifically during the Civil War event and the death of Steve Rogers. Seeing the Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale name combo on the cover, however, was enough to make me instantly grab a copy and plunk some money down. Was the blind buy worth it?
Win A 'Captain America' Honda Element, Custom Designed by Marvel!

I've always appreciated the Captain America character, but I've never collected his series and have only picked up a random book here and there, such as his death or Bucky taking over the title. Despite that I still want this car! It's not the greatest looking job (I can't stand the sides), but the top of the car is beautiful. Be sure to check the link out and prepare to drool over something you probably won't win.
