The original Punch-Out for the NES is still one of those gaming memories that I still look on fondly, regardless of the fact that – even to this day – I've never been able to beat Soda Popinski and that mocking laugh. Along comes Punch-Out for the Wii to bring back all those memories of nostalgia in this re-imagining of the original. It's got all of the characters you love to hate, but is this a game you'll universally love?

The latest Punch-Out game is really fun and we'll have a review of it soon. One of my favorite characters in the game is King Hippo, as he's just as silly and great as in the first game. Amazon even released a special Heavyweight Contender Kit, which came with a King Hippo crown, punching bag, and replica boxer shorts. If you bought the kit and plan on wearing the boxer shorts then you'd better think again. As it turns out, a dye used in the shorts has been known to cause cancer.

I have an addiction to videogame collectibles. When it comes to collector's editions and extra stuff, I'm usually one to jump on it if the goods are any good. I've even done Amazon exclusives before, like the Fallout 3 PipBoy and the Expansion Pack goodies for Persona 4. I can't see myself EVER buying an official replica of Little Mac's left-handed boxing glove for a whopping $90. You don't even get the game! I'm sorry, but I have a hard time seeing anyone who buys this as a smart person.

Paying $35 bucks for a replica of King Hippo's crown, a desktop punching bag of the character, boxer shorts like he wears, and a candy bar is a lot in my opinion...but hey, if you got the money, go for it. Plus, if it's anything like the expansion pack of goodies that Amazon did for Persona 4, chances are it might sell out and then fetch a nice price on eBay.

I was happy another Punch-Out was coming out, but I didn't get really excited until seeing the following trailer. Old school music and pink jumpsuit training - old school for the win.
