There are already a lot of MMORPGs on the market and several more coming out soon or in the near future. When you have such a crowded market, you really have to bring something new to the table in order to entice fans away from the other more established games. One thing that has only really been done once before is the idea of a superhero themed MMO. Luckily for fans there's a new superhero themed MMO on the market, which just so happens to come from the same people who brought us City of Heroes. Is it a game fit for a hero or just a temporary stopover till something else comes along?

Mon, 05/18/2009 - 08:33 — Jason Van Horn
Do you like MMORPGs and want to get your superhero fix but are tired of City of Heroes? If so and you were expecting the upcoming Champions Online to arrive sooner rather than later, think again and prepare to be disappointed. Champions Online, which was set to release in July, has now been delayed till September.
"It is critically important for an MMO to be as good as it possibly can be at launch," said executive producer Bill Roper on the Champions Online website. "Through our constant dialogue with our vocal and supportive community of beta testers, we quickly realized that in order to implement certain features that we all considered important the development of Champions Online would require more time. So that's what we're going to give it."

'Champions Online' Looking At June Release
Thu, 02/19/2009 - 09:21 — Jason Van Horn
The MMORPG market is flooded with sci-fi/fantasy offerings, but beyond City of Heroes, it's lacking when it comes to superhero offerings. Well, at least for the time being, as there are two more coming in the next year or two. The first competition comes in the form of Champions Online, which is eyeing a June release date (though no exact date yet known). It will definitely include the PC release, but whether the Xbox 360 release will hit at the same time remains to be seen.
