'Life On Mars' Will Answer Questions
Thu, 11/20/2008 - 10:56 — Jason Van Horn
One of my early complaints about Life On Mars was the fact that when it came to why Sam was suddenly in 1973 the show gave so many possibilities rather than potentially concrete answers. Was he in hell? Purgatory? In a coma? Aliens kidnapped him and were probing his butt? On the Lost island in some weird experiment? Executive producer Josh Appelbaum was just interviewed over at the Sci-Fi Channel's website and said answers would start coming in, along with a major cliffhanger that will be left hanging until December.

Verbinski Remaking 'The Host'
Wed, 11/19/2008 - 08:43 — Jason Van Horn
The Host was a pretty good movie, though it did have a few storytelling problems. The monster, however, was very unique and looked really cool on screen when swinging on screen. It seems though that American film studios can't leave well enough alone, as remake fever as reached Gore Verbinski, who will be helming a remake of the monster movie. The movie is still relatively new...do we need a remake already?
And on a side-note, please, don't remake Oldboy like you're planning to do too Hollywood. It doesn't need it!
Will There Be A Third 'X-Files' Movie?
Wed, 11/19/2008 - 08:39 — Jason Van Horn
The second X-Files movie was a big letdown at the theaters in terms of box office numbers, but if the DVD does well enough when it releases, there could potentially be a third film to finally wrap the franchise up for good. As writer-producer Frank Spotnitz describes, the third film would deal with aliens and the significance of the date December 2012.
Are There Two Gay 'Battlestar Galactica' Characters?
Mon, 11/17/2008 - 10:34 — Jason Van Horn
Over at Aint It Cool News, rumor is circling that two of the recurring male characters from Battlestar Galactica will be revealed to be gay. It's not really "that" shocking that the series would finally have a gay character or two, but to reveal the secret on one of the series' webisodes and during the last portion of the show's final season...it seems weird.

Fri, 11/14/2008 - 11:41 — Jason Van Horn
The best-selling zombie apocalypse book - World War Z - is going to be made into a film, and Marc Forster is attached to direct the adaptation. Also attached to the project are Brad Pitt's production company and J. Michael Straczynski who is set to write the screenplay.
NBC Dumps 'My Own Worst Enemy'
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 11:25 — Jason Van Horn
Well thanks a lot people! My day is ruined now because I had to wake up and the first link of the day I saw informed me that NBC had just pulled the plug on My Own Worst Enemy. Why could everyone had just watched the show and made me happy? The show will finish filming its ninth episode, but there is no information about what will happen with the final five episodes. Maybe NBC will at least show them, but at best they'll hopefully be included in a DVD release.
'Wheel of Time' Games and Movies In The Works
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 11:21 — Jason Van Horn
The Wheel of Time series is a long-running and best-selling series of books, which have are eleven strong, with a possible posthumous death twelfth volume to be released in 2009. As with any popular fantasy series, it's not surprising that a series of movies is being planned, but interestingly enough a series of games may be in the works, including a possible MMO release.
Bryan Fuller Talks 'Pushing Daisies' and 'Heroes'
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 10:46 — Jason Van Horn
Bryan Fuller - the creator of Pushing Daisies - appeared at the Paley Center for Media and answered some questions as to what to expect for the reason of the season...for however long that lasts. Besides announcing that the 13th episode of the season could act as a series finale, he also talked about Heroes and how he might return if Pushing Daisies isn't given an order placement for any future episodes.
'Sanctuary' Gets A Second Season Pickup
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 10:35 — Jason Van Horn
I don't think Sanctuary is even half-way done with its first season, but apparently the reviews and ratings for the show have been good enough to already warrant the Sci-Fi Channel to place a second season order. So fans will get more Tapping and Bigfoot for at least another season.
'Defying Gravity' Rounds Out Cast
Wed, 11/12/2008 - 10:11 — Jason Van Horn
Defying Gravity - a relationship drama set in space about eight astronauts taking on a mysterious six-year mission through the solar system - has rounded out its cast further by hiring Laura Harris. Harris joins Ron Livingston and Eyai Podell as two cast members already attached to the project.
'Kyle XY' Returns In January
Wed, 11/12/2008 - 09:54 — Jason Van Horn
Kyle XY, the ABC Family teen without a belly-button (at least I think he's still missing a belly-button) will be returning to the network in January to start its third-season. Kyle XY will premiere on Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. I wish I had more to say, but I couldn't even get past the first episodes of this series without getting bored. Enough fans seem to be enjoying it, however, as it wouldn't have made it to a season three otherwise.
'Knight Rider' Shifting Focus and Deleting Characters
Tue, 11/11/2008 - 09:39 — Jason Van Horn
It's hard for any of us to really care about the remake of Knight Rider around here. I prefer remembering my childhood when I had a Kitt pedal-car that talked when you pressed a button, while I think the other writers just don't really care. After hearing today's news, I'm glad I haven't been watching, as such a drastic move between one storytelling method to the next, plus the removal of several support characters, would be a huge change to accept. Basically, NBC will make the show even more like the original, and will remove Bruce Davison, Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Yancey Arias from the cast.
ABC Having A Sci-Fi Night On Wednesdays?
Tue, 11/11/2008 - 09:22 — Jason Van Horn
While ABC has never had a ton of sci-fi content on the air at one-time, the company did successfully combine Lost and Invasion onto one night a few years back, which helped Invasion enough to at least give it a full season. It appears that ABC will be trying a similar stunt with the return of Lost, as it seems Wednesdays will become a three-hour block of sci-fi with Pushing Daisies at 8PM, Lost at 9PM, and then Life On Mars at 10PM.
If ABC does go ahead with the plans, it will be one of the best three-hour blocks of television currently on the air, finally giving NBC's Monday night block of Chuck, Heroes, and My Own Worst Enemy a run for its money.
'Pushing Daisies' Creator Might Return To 'Heroes'
Mon, 11/10/2008 - 10:38 — Jason Van Horn
Talk about conflicting news - the success of Pushing Daisies or Heroes. Heroes has never been as good as its first season, where Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller was one of the show's writers. Many even say Fuller's departure started the downward spiral of the show. Fuller then went on to create Pushing Daisies, which did really well its first season, but is now suffering terribly in the ratings department. Pushing Daisies is doing so poorly that the show could soon be canceled, at which time Fuller said he would definitely return to write for Heroes again.
On one-hand it would be great news for Heroes, but on the other we really like Pushing Daisies and think even with Fuller's help it will be hard to save Heroes and return it to its once prominence.
More 'Dollhouse' Delays
Mon, 11/10/2008 - 10:09 — Jason Van Horn
It's hard to be a Whedon fan and find any silver lining when it comes to Dollhouse. I don't think I've personally experienced any good news about the series since it was first announced and that Eliza Dushku and Amy Acker would be starring in it. Since then it's just been one hiatus, followed by a sudden move to Friday nights before the show even airs, and now production on the seventh episode has been delayed, apparently because the script was in such bad shape.
Here's hoping for some miracle when it comes to the future of Dollhouse.
