It was just announced that the animated DVD - Halo Legends - will be releasing on DVD and Blu-ray on February 16th. There will be a standard edition, special edition, and Blu-ray edition. The regular DVD will retail for $19.98, while the two-disk special edition will cost $29.98 and the Blu-Ray will be $34.99. The special edition includes:

* The Making of Halo Legends - An introduction to Halo Legends followed by a making-of segment for each episode.
* Halo: Gaming Evolved - Explaining the Halo phenomenon from its inception as an Xbox video game to a present day entertainment franchise.
* Audio Commentary with directors Frank O'Connor and Joseph Chou
* Widescreen (1.78:1)

I'll be going to get my copy of Halo 3: ODST later today, as probably a lot of you will be doing too. Until then, take a look at five minutes of footage from the upcoming Halo Legends - an anime movie/special focusing on the Halo universe - that stars the same type of troopers from today's ODST release.

A new project was just announced called Halo Legends, which acts much like The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight DVDS (one property approached in several ways by various master of anime). Master Chief looks a bit too Gundam like in one part, but otherwise it looks good. Definite buy. Here's the trailer:
