The Dragonball/Dragonball Z franchise was my gateway drug into the world of anime, so I hold a special place for it in my otaku loving heart. Perhaps that's why I take such offense to live-action Dragonball film, which is tarnishing the history of that series and the movie hasn't ever aired yet! An albino looking Piccolo? Goku turning into a monster from Gears of War rather than the giant monkey he should be? The movie is even closer to its release date than ever before, as the movie was just pushed up, and now it will be releasing on April 8, 2009.

Whenever I post news regarding the Dragonball movie, I can't help but comment on how bad it looks. A few screenshots of the movie are starting to hit the net and only help solidify my opinion on the crappy looking nature of the movie. What have you done to one of my most beloved series? You turned Piccolo into an albino vampire! Piccolo is supposed to be green and purple! Argh!

Dragonball Z holds a special place in my otaku heart, as it was one of the first anime series I ever watched. Despite my unequivocal love for all things Dragonball Z, I'm not looking forward to the upcoming live-action, but to be fair I haven't seen any actual footage to shape that opinion around. I just think the idea of a live-action Dragonball movie is horrible. I'll know soon enough, however, as it's rumored a trailer for the movie will debut in October.

The original Dragonball series was my first introduction into the world of anime, though it was Dragonball Z that really got me addicted. I kept my hopes high that a live action version of Dragonball wouldn't actually be that bad, but if this poster is any indicator...well...sigh.
