'Caprica' (1.1) "Pilot" – Review
Tue, 01/26/2010 - 11:21 — Jason Van Horn
The Battlestar Galactica prequel series – Caprica – is finally here, but it's a show that won't necessarily automatically impress those of BSG. There are indeed several stylized themes that are shared between the two, but whereas BSG was a space-faring adventure with philosophical ideals, Caprica is a human drama with philosophical ideas first and foremost. It might be hard to keep this series interesting week in and week out, but as of right now I'm pleasantly surprised and fulfilled by what I saw in the first episode.

Jane Espenson To Be Eventual Showrunner Of 'Caprica'
Tue, 01/27/2009 - 10:28 — Jason Van Horn
Jane Espenson did some of the best episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and has been doing a good job too working on Battlestar Galactica. Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore is apparently so happy with her work that he's going to eventually give her the responsibility of showrunner on Caprica once it gets going. Until she takes over the showrunner job, she will write and be the co-executive producer of the show.
So What's Happening With 'Caprica'? Moore Talks
Fri, 01/23/2009 - 12:18 — Jason Van Horn
Battlestar Galactica will be ending its run in the span of a handful of episodes, but that doesn't mean fans will have to leave behind the universe they've come to love, as Moore and company have been hard at work on Caprica, a prequel series detailing how the Cylons were created.
"Caprica is getting underway. We're putting the writers' room together as we speak. It's very exciting. It's a very different challenge. It's a very different show. I think there's a sense of "Well, Battlestar has set a very high bar." That makes everybody have to bring their A game, and I think that's the spirit in which we're approaching Caprica."
