'Portal 2' Delayed Until Next Year
Thu, 06/10/2010 - 08:03 — Jason Van Horn
Though it will be shown at E3 this year, you'll have to wait until sometime next year in order to play Portal 2 yourself. Here is a press release that we received:
"Aperture Science, doing business as Aperture Laboratories LLC, in partnership with Valve today announced the successful completion of an ethics-review-panel-supervised release date restructuring process. Portal 2, the sequel to the ground-breaking title that earned over 30 Game of the Year awards despite missing its original ship date, is now targeted for a 2011 release.
Representatives from both companies acknowledged that public safety concerns factored into the decision. They went on to say that even though Portal 2 will arrive slightly later than planned, all life on earth won't instantaneously stop as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light, which is what would happen should a rip ever appear in the fabric of Valve Time."
'Portal 2' Details Coming Out
Mon, 03/08/2010 - 11:30 — Jason Van Horn
Portal 2 was just announced and already we're getting info on story details and gameplay based on Game Informer's upcoming cover story.
"Portal 2 will, reportedly, take place hundreds of years after the first Portal, resulting in the Aperture Science labs looking like "a jungle." Despite this significant time shift, Portal 2 will still somehow once again star Chell, the first game's protagonist, as the playable character in the single-player game. GlaDOS returns as well, with the (Portal 1 spoiler warning) personality cores you seemingly destroyed at the end of the first game having taken over different areas of the lab.
Meanwhile, as previously revealed, the co-op campaign will be a stand-alone story...that apparently stars two bi-pedal robots. Gameplay-wise, physics will play a bigger role in the puzzles, with one example being using a portal to suck air from a vent in one area into another. There will also be "reflection cubes" that'll be used for laser-redirection puzzles. Game Informer's cover story also confirms that Portal 2 will indeed be a full-fledged game, with Valve comparatively calling Portal 1 a "test bed."
'Portal' Gets A New Ending

Hot on the heels of the recent Portal patch and all its crazy hidden messages, it turns out that the game now has a new ending! Is that Dog from Half-Life 2? Will the next game be a Portal/Half-Life 2 hybrid since the games share the same universe?
Could 'Portal 2' Be In The Works?

I loved Portal, so today's news has me really excited. Not enough to read all the forum posts and try to decipher everything myself, but still, I'm jumping for joy.
Yesterday, Steam Portal owners got an unexpected patch for the game, which kind of came out of nowhere. By navigating a radio around the world and activating various switches and requirements, different codes and static messages are broadcast. When translated they hint at images and other oddities. Could this be a hint to a Portal 2? I certainly hope so. Here's a video of the radio in action.
